“The Biomedical Research Institute is a specialized center dedicated to advancing medical science through applied and fundamental research. Officially approved by the National Council for the Expansion of Medical Sciences Universities on July 4, 2024, the institute began its operations in 2025. It operates under Golestan University of Medical Sciences and Health Services, powered by a team of expert faculty members, researchers, and laboratory specialists.”
The affiliated research centers in biomedical institute are as follows:
•Metabolic Disorders Research Center
•Rheumatology Research Center
•Cellular and Molecular Research Center
•Neuroscience Research Center
•Stem Cell Research Center
Shared Objectives of the Biomedical Research Institute:
1.Study and identify the mechanisms of development and progression in metabolic, neurological, rheumatological, and oncological diseases, among others.
2.Design and implement early diagnostic solutions utilizing novel technologies, diagnostic kits, specific biomarkers, and artificial intelligence.
3.Develop and evaluate innovative therapeutic methods, including gene therapy, cell therapy, and regenerative medicine.
4.Advance targeted drug delivery and therapies based on natural compounds.
5.Establish a biobank for stem cells (umbilical cord, bone marrow, deciduous teeth, etc.) within the province.
6.Register prevalent diseases within the province.
